Friday Verse Journal: Psalms 119:9-11

053

Hooray!! It is a new year; a time of new beginnings and making new resolutions. Through various trials and unforeseen difficulties, I often have to stop and remember that God is beside me all the way every day and he is continually blessing me. I just don’t always fully realize this but I know he is. He never gives up on his people and I in turn I am resolved to never give up on him. I don’t always understand his ways and his wisdom is much greater than mine. I need to just keep trusting and believing in him through Jesus, his one and only son. I also need to continually stay and abide in his true word and let him show me the way to go in what to do, and what to say. That doesn’t mean that I can be perfect, on my own I will never accomplish that and I know that my inner being is full of many faults as I do not always perceive nor understand what God is gently teaching me. But it is God’s good guidance and love through the Lord Jesus, that helps me journey in the right direction and that is towards heaven, God’s everlasting kingdom.

Psalms 119:9-11 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; don’t let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Remembering God and Remaining Thankful

Although I am one day late on posting in my Friday verse journal. I still wanted to do so.  I took some extra time today to read God’s word,  pray, and to really think about how wonderful God is. And considering it is thanksgiving, my mind is still focused on the many things I have to be thankful for. And the only reason why I have so much to be thankful for is because God loves me and blesses me in many wonderful ways; his gifts are beyond generous and he is forever loving and gracious. To start with, God through his son Jesus has given me new life and I have the hope of living in heaven. I also have the freedom to worship, pray, and read God’s word whenever I want. I also come from a loving family and have many caring friends in my life.  And just when I need it most,  a friend or a family member comes along  to encourage me.  God abundantly provides for all my needs and I have a meaningful job in which I work and care for others so that they may live their lives as independently as they can. And God is always with me so that I am never alone.

Psalms 100:3-4 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.”

Whew!! Another busy week of completing my work and depending on the Lord. Am thankful for a restful Saturday. I had eagerly checked my email hoping for a positive response of acceptance for a story I recently wrote but that didn’t happen. So back to the drawing board of writing and rewriting. Once again feeling some disappointment and wondering why?  Also this is just one of many hurts and disappointments to come along.  And I realize that I am not alone. Many of us start down a path in life hoping for success and a sense of purpose in what we do both in our professional and personal lives. And things just don’t go the way we think. Need to keep remembering that God does know what is best for each person. Through prayer, reading God’s Word,  and obedience, I need to just wait and keep trusting in the Lord for all things and let him strengthen and show me the way in his good time. However, as I struggle, I must admit this is easier said than done.

Isaiah 40:31 (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not grow faint.”

At times, I feel a sense of rejection and also failure. I find this in relationships, sometimes at work, and in my endeavors to be a writer. Many times this is because I have made an error or fall to sin. Other times it is because others only see my outward appearance and my outward actions without understanding my heart or my thoughts. And often the world will only see what it wants to see, remain unkind, and not seek understanding. I know there others who may feel that way too. Only God can see us on the inside. Only God can understand the depths of our thoughts and our hearts and in God’s lovely eyes we are accepted into his infinite love. God can see what others cannot see; God can see the beauty hidden deep inside of you and me.

I Samuel 16:7b (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outside appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.”
