Wishful Thinking

004

Days filled with clouds and

Nights with rain; how I wish to

See the radiant sunshine again.

The vast sky is continually

Wrapped in foreboding dark gray

Through the night and lasting all day.

A break in the clouds

Would be a cheerful sight; oh

To view again the glowing sunlight

Lifting and softly dawning

Upon the tree-lined horizon.

And to embrace again the warmth

Of the orange tinted orb in the morning dawn

While it strokes and dries the rain soaked land.

But must be patient and quietly believe

 That again I’ll watch the flaming sun rise

As it journeys over the land and sea

Caressing the world in its warmth

Again as it gently evaporates

 The dwindling mist and rain.

God’s blessings are often that

Way; like soothing rays of hope that

Softly brighten a dark and cloudy day.

So perhaps I will see a hint of sunshine

While I travel through another day

And perceive a glowing ray of hope

To softly brighten my pathway.

Becky’s Freku: Though the Path be Dark Today

img_20160420_100257563

In the cloud-filled, dreariness of this day,

While the sunlight be dim along the way,

With Jesus I can still walk in faith

Though the path be dark today.

Although troubles brew and haunt my soul

And I feel empty and lacking a life purpose or goal,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

As the rain drizzles outside

And in my house I just want to hide,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

Even as I awake in clouds of doubt

Wondering what my life is really about,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

As I gingerly step outside in fear

Wondering what new obstacles may appear,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

Believing the sun will shine again

Evaporating the clouds and drizzling rain,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

Choosing to trust that he is my light

Who helps me to see in the darkest night,

With Jesus I can still walk by faith

Though the path be dark today.

Yeah! With Jesus, I

still walk by faith though my path

is darkened today.

The Gray Roof Above

IMG_20160729_201304493

Clouds hovering above hung low

Forming a billowy gray roof.

Yet the vision of a double rainbow

Gloriously did loom.

Tis a reminder today

Though the sun light is dim

Rain showers along the way

Do cleanse and brighten

This fair world from sea to sea

Though at times tainted with drought

The gardens and the swaying trees.

Glistening raindrops beneath the clouds

Finely scattered along life’s path way

Are droplets of heaven’s blessings

To gently soothe this darkened day

And encourage our hearts with renewed hope to sing.

 The arching twin rainbows stretching high above

This earth; its land and wave swept seas

To quietly mirror God’s never ending love

For you and for me.

Though a bit late, I am participating in a photo challenge this week with the word “roof”.  This adds a bit more challenge to writing poetry and it too me a while to respond! To find out more about word photo challenges visit this site: https://thearanartisan.com/photo-challenge-words-2016/

LOOKING FORWARD

051

Long everlasting hope;

Overlooking daunting obstacles.

Open heart and open mind;

Keeping and clinging to my faith inside.

Intent to view the glorious sun;

Never minding the clouds and rain.

Giving and sharing in hope with others;

Future we see and journey together.

Overcoming pain, rejection, and despair;

Remembering Jesus is always there.

Watching and waiting;

Anticipation elating.

Riding and traversing this bumpy road of trials and strife;

Destination Heaven and eternal life.

Becky’s Haiku: Passing Time

beach

Strolling along the

Beach; passing time by slowly

Sinking my bare feet.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “beach” and “time”. I am still enjoying these poetic challenges: they are like brainteasers.  If you like word challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Haiku: Quivering River

Ripples spread in a

 Widening quiver as a

Stone strikes the river.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “stone” and “river”. I continue to enjoy the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/
