Becky’s Haiku: Petals of Grace

img_20161001_093249005

As autumn gently

Departs, drifting leaves like loose

Petals touch the heart.

A Heart that deeply

Yearns for an unfilled dream yet

Through time it does learn

To remain hopeful

And still believe in Jesus whose

Love never recedes.

It is that hope and

Trust in him who keeps the heart

Sure and safe within.

Inside his blessings

Of grace showered on us like

The softest snowflakes.

Each morn, he reaches

Down from heaven to help me

Be content within.

For it is his aim

That I journey each day in

Peace along the way;

A lasting peace that

Gives hope to proceed knowing

He’s always with me.

So I may live each

Day with a hopeful heart touched

By petals of grace.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “petals” and “heart”. If you are up  to the challenge then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Pantoum: On a Frigid Winter Day

021903_0850[00]

On a frigid winter day

I peered into the brilliant blue sky;

Twas a rainbow in vivid lemon array

Stretching far and reaching high.

I peered into the brilliant blue sky

Feeling a sharp blustery breeze

Stretching far and reaching high

Over the pines and leafless trees.

Feeling a sharp blustery breeze

In the midst of this frozen land.

Over the pines and leafless trees

Ice crystals reflecting and refracting the sun.

In the midst of this frozen land

Twas a rainbow in vivid lemon array:

Ice crystals reflecting and refracting the sun

On a frigid winter day.

Becky’s Pantoum: Upon the Fringe of Deep Black Night

 img_20160519_204549678_hdr

Upon the fringe of deep black night

The sky remained a vast ocean of blue;

The perfect sphered moon shone its’ light

Casting a faint and ghostly hue.

The sky remained a vast ocean of blue

While a lone ship sailed the silent sea

Casting a faint and ghostly hue

On the lapping waves so deep.

While a lone ship sailed the silent sea

Searching for its faraway home;

On the lapping waves so deep

Voyaging onward all alone.

Searching for its faraway home

Beneath the canopy of darkness stretching on;

Voyaging onward all alone

Yet somehow hoping to perceive the distant sun.

Beneath the canopy of darkness stretching on

The perfect sphered moon shone its’ light;

Yet somehow hoping to perceive the distant sun

Upon the fringe of deep black night.

Beyond the Transparent Glass

ruger-sitting-in-sunshine-haze

Sitting near the sunlit window

With wondrous eyes and pointed nose;

Watching golden autumn leaves

Float and twirl in the breeze.

Oh to touch and grasp a leaf.

To smell and taste; is it sour or sweet?

Reaching with a curious paw

Only to meet the smooth pane and that is all.

Looking wistful and a bit downcast

At being thwarted by the transparent glass.

Continuing to stare into the sunshine’s haze

With a quiet and yearning gaze.

And with paw on window remaining at rest

Still hoping to reach further yet

Beyond that barrier of transparent glass

to touch a fluttering leaf at last.

Becky’s Haiku: Call of the Lark

DCP_1008

 In this wooded park

Past the tall rushes, one might

Hear a singing lark.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “lark” and “rush”. I am continuing to enjoy these challenges.  If you like word challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Autumn in the Air

img_20161002_122129510

Days are ever shorter

And gradually cooler;

As a later sun rise

Filters the morning sky.

Clusters of dangling leaves

Still adorned in shades of green

While clinging to their branching vines

Against the tide of passing time.

But then pause, look, and behold:

Vibrant splashes of yellow, orange, and gold.

And a leaf here and there

Silently lets go floating in the air.

The vaulting sky still illuminates radiant sunshine

As if determined to thwart the swiftly encroaching night.

Squirrels and other creatures too scurry to and fro

Gathering acorns and food before that first winter snow.

Days become ever cooler still

Until there is a blowing wintry chill

And all too soon all the once vivid leaves

Loosen their grasp in a blustery breeze

Fluttering downward, carpeting the ground;

Naturally accepting their time had come.

So quietly Autumn exits allowing Winter

To have its season amid this transitioning weather.

But even so with each new passing day,

I will choose to cherish this time that the Lord has made.
