I looked up high
To see the stars in the night sky.
I looked up high
To see the crescent moon’s pale light.
The sky turned pitch black by midnight;
A dark cape to hold the starry lights.
I looked up high.
The late afternoon sky resembled a
Tranquil and deep blue sea.
A hint of powder white clouds
Are floating by so effortlessly.
A crescent moon has settled on high
Like a heavenly nightlight in the sky.
The streaming sunlight continues to diminish
Being chased away by the encroaching darkness.
The air is cool as evening approaches
Reminding me to don on warmer clothes.
A quietness reigns in the brisk mountain air
With the soft chirping of a cricket choir.
I sat on the porch waiting in anticipation
To see all the stars that nighttime may bring.
Such a long time since I have seen
The stars at night so brightly shining;
Glowing and glittering in awesome wonder
While stretching above across the universe.
I shall sit and wait here in this still quietness
To see those twinkling gems before I rest.
This world tries to guide
Me in lies of “liberty”
Til I’m mad, you see.
For I become too
Confused to see God’s Truth and
What is right for me.
So I hide in a
Solitary place seeking
God and his sweet grace.
I have just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “guide” and “mad” and this time I wrote a three stanza poem. I am enjoying the challenges and I have no idea how he chooses the words to use. If you like poetry and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/
When a rainbow streaks the sky after the thunder and the rain
Is a time to remember that God keeps all his promises to the end:
Remember Jesus as the Son of God and Lord
And he will also remember us according to his word.
Always faithful: God’s love and faithfulness never end;
For once he’s with us, he remains as our Father and friend.
Individual and personal as he calls us each by name
While through the ages, his deep love remains the same.
Never forgetting: as we live a new life with Jesus,
God promises to never leave nor forsake us.
Blessings and kindnesses he will gladly show
By answering our prayers and giving us lasting hope.
Omnipresent: God’s unseen spirit is everywhere;
In our hearts and in the breeze that filters the air.
Whispering in the soft wind at night, he reminds us of his word
As we lay quietly in that stillness remembering he is Lord.

Christian poetry and prose, quotes, and thoughts - if they glorify God they were worth writing; if they mean something to one other person, they were worth sharing. Comments always welcome!
