Becky’s Haiku: Beneath the Moonlight

252

Sun fades into night;

A dark reflection appears

Beneath the moonlight.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “sun” and “moon”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

I am also participating in a photo challenge this week with the word “reflection”.  This certainly adds a bit more challenge to the haiku! To find out more about word photo challenges visit this site: https://thearanartisan.com/photo-challenge-words-2016/

Becky’s Haiku: Remembering God, My Strength and Song

051

As I walk and stroll

Along, I think of God who

Is my strength and song.

he has created

by his own power all things:

earth, the moon, and stars.

he has revealed in

his book, chapter and verse; he

made the universe.

Nothing good was made

Without him; through his word filled

With power from within.

He gives breathing life

To all men and eternal

Life through his own Son.

He is like a love

 Song singing deep inside of

Me and whispering.

He sings in my heart

Ever quietly and through

The gentle, flowing breeze.

I also hear him

By the lake and sea as the

Waves lap peacefully.

And in the forest

When the birds sing, I can’t help

But remember him.

Always reminding

Me of his love and peace, so

Content, I can be.

So today I will

Stroll along and remember

God, my strength and song.

Friday Verse Journal Psalms 8:3-4

Oops, one day late again but I felt a deep desire to make an entry in my Friday Verse Journal. One of the things that I so enjoy doing is gazing at the night time sky but I must admit with a very cold winter upon us, I don’t feel like standing outside for very long at all. However with the help of the Stellarium app on my kindle fire, I have been able to capture some images with my camera phone without ever leaving my house. The Stellarium app helps me to find and identify planets, a variety of stars, nebulas, and even galaxies. I have had a lot of fun using it. Also while doing so, I am reminded how small and very tiny I am in this humongous universe. I am so thankful to realize that God is so loving and so mindful of me.

Psalms 8:3-4 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them? Human beings that you care for them?”

God’s Night Light in the Sky

004

One night I gazed into the darkened sky and saw the fullest moon shining so bright.

It was God’s lesser light you may see to rule at night over land and sea.

It was his night light which he purposed to be glowing brightly as I quietly sleep.

For God’s silent presence fills the night air to comfort me and chase away my fears.

God’s night light shimmers in the blackened sky to fend off evilness lurking in the still night.

He has promised to faithfully stay nearby to keep me safe until the dawn of morning light.

It is his night light you must see glowing ever brightly for you and me.

God keeps all his promises you should know so we would believe and never let go.

Yes it is God’s night light in the sky to brighten up the deepest, darkest night.

He turns on his night light just for you and me so we may clearly see and firmly believe.

He keeps his night light on in that darkened sky while keeping watch through the night.

So we may gently and peacefully sleep as God’s night light quietly shines over land and sea.

Thankful Thursday: TYGIAF

039

TYGIAF! TYGIAF! I’ll say it again, TYGIAF! ‘What is that?” you might ask. Well, on Fridays, you often hear “TGIF” meaning “thank goodness (or thank God) it’s Friday. I am starting a new mini feature on my blog that i’m calling Thankful Thursday and choosing to declare, “Thank You God, It’s Almost Friday!” I am making a choice to be thankful on Thursday while looking forward to Friday. I find that during the week, my busiest days are right in the middle; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Often by Wednesday night and especially by Thursday night, I’m very exhausted. And then my tiredness leads to grumpiness and, I have to admit it, grumbling!!

Then after being in such a discontent and complaining mood, I get reminded to just take a moment and let myself enjoy the day. Today was no exception. The last two days were long and tiring, and yep, I was grumbling. I had to deal with some very unpleasant tasks which led to extreme tiredness and a lack of patience. Then, today, I was reminded of the beautiful day we had and I had the opportunity to be outside to enjoy it. I do have a job that allows me to be frequently outside and I look forward to that. Not too warm, not too cold, and the sun was brightly shining. Each person I worked with was cheerful and a treasure to be around. And now, it is Thursday night, a beautiful summer evening with a sliver of a moon hovering above me as I journeyed to my tiny home. God is quietly shining his light along my path. As this Thursday gently ends I am thankful for it while anticipating tomorrow. So TYGIAF; Thank You God It’s Almost Friday.

Moonlight, Moonlight

003

Moonlight, moonlight shining so bright

And showing God’s love through the deep black night.

Moonlight, moonlight rising high in the darkened sky

To keep watch over all the people far and wide.

When I tearfully lay and cannot sleep

You remain faithfully stationed over me.

Your gentle brightness shimmers on through

Until dawn arrives with the morning dew.

Moonlight, moonlight shining so bright

Thank you for watching me through the darkest night.

And most thanks of all to my loving Lord

Who created the moon and everything by the power of his word.

And thank you Lord Jesus for coming my way

To adopt as your own and to save me by your loving grace.
