After the Rain

001

The sun brightly appears after a stormy spell

Letting everyone know that all again is well.

The shrilling wind has lessened its’ churning

While the pelting rain has ceased it’s drumming.

Trees, shrubs, flowers, and everything green

Is bathed in wetness on this summery day in Spring.

A new fresh scent permeates and filters the air;

A welcomed sign that the earth is renewed and fair.

Such a sweet blessing to remember and realize

That the loving Lord is in charge: rain, snow, or sunshine.

And at night when the orange setting sun is dipping low,

He stays in charge of all our nights, our days and every tomorrow.

Poetry 201 Assignment 10: Future, Sonnet, and Chiasmus

023

Finally, I have completed my last assignment in Poetry 201. It has been an interesting and challenging two weeks. My last assignment was to write a sonnet about the future. And in this poem I was to include a chiasmus which pertains to repeating statements forwards and then backwards. Can you find my forward and backward statements?

Looking in Hope for Spring

Oh those prolonged days, ever so cold and blistery,

How long indeed shall they continue to still prevail?

As certainly every night is so utterly freezing and wintry.

I yearn and hope for spring to arrive without fail.

I glance upon my wall calendar to calculate and count

The number of months and weeks of this frigid season;

How many more of these dark days must surely amount

Before the end of snow though lovely it does glisten?

Now to stop and be ever so true and so ever kindly fair,

The loving, faithful Lord has remained always with me.

He’s gently wrapped me in saving grace showing he does care

Whether I am wide awake or sleeping ever so deep, so soundly.

Only God gives lasting hope; hope lasting is given by God only.

Encouragingly, I lift up my head; yea! My head is uplifted encouragingly.

Friday Verse Journal Matthew 6:21

046

Although this is one day late, I am determined to write something in my Friday Verse Journal segment. The other day I happened to stop for a quick lunch before returning to work. I sat in my car in the parking debating if I should splurge on a small lunch. I had just decided that I shouldn’t do so when I looked around the parking lot and saw a familiar car. A friend I hadn’t seen in a long time was there. Immediately, I changed my mind and ventured into the restaurant. I ordered a meal and soon found my friend at a small table. We had a wonderful time of chatting, sharing, and encouraging each other. Her friendship and kindness are very special gifts to me and I treasure them very much. I think such special friends are just a few of God’s wonderful gifts which he showers on me. The loving Lord has a way of suddenly surprising me during the day when I sometimes least expect it and that was the case when I unexpectedly met up with my friend. God knew I needed someone to talk to and provided. He truly does supply all my needs and blesses me with wonderful gifts and blessings. I hope that has showered you with a special gift today, something that you will treasure in your heart.

Matthew 6:21 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“For where your treasure is, there  your heart will be also.”
