God’s Promises in a RAINBOW

Trailing Rainbow

When a rainbow streaks the sky after the thunder and the rain

Is a time to remember that God keeps all his promises to the end:

Remember Jesus as the Son of God and Lord

And he will also remember us according to his word.

Always faithful: God’s love and faithfulness never end;

For once he’s with us, he remains as our Father and friend.

Individual and personal as he calls us each by name

While through the ages, his deep love remains the same.

Never forgetting: as we live a new life with Jesus,

God promises to never leave nor forsake us.

Blessings and kindnesses he will gladly show

By answering our prayers and giving us lasting hope.

Omnipresent: God’s unseen spirit is everywhere;

In our hearts and in the breeze that filters the air.

Whispering in the soft wind at night, he reminds us of his word

As we lay quietly in that stillness remembering he is Lord.

Becky’s Haiku: Future and Give

014

Looking towards the unknown future, God

Gives me firm hope to press forward.

I have just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “future” and “give”. If you like poetry and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/

Jesus in the Rainbow

Trailing Rainbow

Red: Jesus’ blood was shed on the cross so my sins may be washed away in forgiveness.

Orange: Like the brilliant glowing sunset, Jesus’ light is brightly shining within us.

Yellow: As the day dawns with morning sunlight, Jesus’ presence stays with me as my guide in life.

Green:  He’s the Good Shepherd keeping us in his scope; He watches and gives us eternal hope.

Blue: Like the clear sky that stretches with no end, so it is with heaven, God’s everlasting kingdom.

Purple: Jesus arose from his grave victoriously and will reign forever in glorious majesty.

Reflecting on SUMMER

Sizzling, sultry sunshine

Underwater swimming and diving

Marshmallow treats around a campfire

Milder nights with warmer weather

Evening walks beneath the lingering sunlight

Reddish-orange sunsets in the late twilight

Becky’s Haiku: Gain and Hound

I gained some peaceful moments only

To be hounded by nagging doubts.

Missing My Dad

056

No more long Sunday drives

Through the quiet countryside.

No more seeing his smiling face

When I find him in his favorite place.

No more watching Mr.Green

Or some other PBS comedy

And hear him laugh aloud

With his laughter filling the house.

No more hearing sometimes stern and sometimes gentle voice;

It is silent now like a deep, empty void.

No more seeing him hunched over in the garage

Determined to fix the truck, tractor, or car.

No more watching him in the fields

Planting, harvesting, or tilling.

No more playing with him outside

Teaching me to play ball, oh how he tried.

Dad could coach me to hit here and there

But I was not meant to be a softball player.

No more fishing at the little pond

Where once I caught a trout with my own rod.

Dad said my fish was too small

So he unhooked it and gently let it go.

No more summer celebrations or holidays

To see him so joyful and to wish him Happy Birthday.

No more waiting in the dark and the late night

To see his car arrive by the beam of his headlights.

For many nights I had laid in bed wide awake

Until I knew dad was home from work and was safe.

Also no more seeing him suffer in great pain

As illness riddled his once strong and tall frame.

For he lived with increased pain for years;

Some days were good but others full of hurt and fear.

But now I know he lives in another world far above

Inside of God’s great grace and amazing love.

He is alive and well in the lofty realms of heaven

Living forever in God’s everlasting kingdom.
