Becky’s Haiku: Press and Touch

I pressed onward and

reached up high: I had hoped to

touch the vaulting sky.

Another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “press” and “touch”. If you like word challenges and haiku’s, then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link and have fun: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Haiku: Touch and Miss

I reached to touch the

Sky; felt the lofty air but

 Missed the clouds up there.

I stretched high to grasp

A lofty dream but up it

Floated far from me.

I have attempted a new haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “touch” and “miss”. This is often an enjoyable challenge for those who like writing short poems.  If you like word challenges and haiku’s, then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link and have fun: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Why should my Heart be full of Cheer?

Pics from Camera 2-8-2015 378

As I gazed at a fluorescent blue sky

Where no stormy clouds appeared

And the orbed sun had journeyed high.

Twas a silent blustery wind but dry

And no wafting sounds could I hear

As I gazed at the fluorescent blue sky.

No birds to witness nor bee or fly;

Also, no ominous foreboding to fear

And the orbed sun had journeyed high.

I then began to wonder why

My heart should be full of cheer

As I gazed at a fluorescent blue sky.

While my eyes upward climbed

Into that lofty, arid atmosphere

And the orbed sun had journeyed high.

I continued to contemplate why

My heart should be full of cheer

As I gazed at the fluorescent blue sky.

This day was bitter cold and dry

As expected this wintry time of year

And the orbed sun had journeyed high.

Draped in the cold sunlight

I stood on the land, frozen and bare,

As I gazed at the fluorescent blue sky.

Banks of snow, gleaming white

Still remain here and there

As the orbed sun had journeyed high.

I pondered and wondered why

My heart should be full cheer

As I gazed at the fluorescent blue sky.

A cold chill crept up my spine

Thanks to the frigid weather

And the orbed sun had journeyed high.

With a start, I suddenly knew why

My heart should be full of cheer

As I gazed at the fluorescent blue sky:

I realized my Lord and Savior is why

for he promises to always stay near

As I gazed and gazed at the fluorescent blue sky

And the orbed glowing sun had journeyed high.

Becky’s Pantoum: Somewhere Deep inside the Forest

044

Somewhere deep inside the forest

Like sky-scraping statues stood a cluster of trees.

While the evergreens remained firm and steadfast,

Leafy limbs swayed in the whispering breeze.

Like sky-scraping statues stood a cluster of trees

As two chattering squirrels scurried about;

Leafy limbs swayed in the whispering breeze

While they clamored and climbed the forking boughs.

As two chattering squirrels scurried about

Spying enticing acorns dangling way up high;

While they clamored and climbed the forking boughs,

The squirrels scampered toward the sunlit sky.

Spying enticing acorns dangling way up high

While the evergreens stood firm and steadfast,

The squirrels scampered toward the sunlit sky

Somewhere deep inside the forest.

The Narrow Bridge

052

Crossing the narrow

Bridge, I wondered what new place

Lay over the ridge.

Perhaps a meadow

Of flowers or a stream filled

With rippling water.

Or perhaps a new

Mountain to climb and reach its’

Peak to touch the sky.

Sometimes a problem

needing a solution and

I must trust in him.

Sometimes it is pain

And grief when sad news reaches

Me; must still believe.

In life I’ve learned each

day is a journey to lean

on Jesus only.

Letting him lead the

Way through the trials and

Triumphs each new day.

He continues to be

My Savior, Lord and true friend

For eternity.

So as I cross a

New bridge I’ll lean on him to

Reach that distant ridge.

Becky’s Haiku: Dazzle and Sky

Sunlight dazzled in

The clouded sky; rays of hope

In the gray twilight.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “dazzle” and “sky”. Kathy B Haiku: HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA

                                  Happy Birthday USA photo

I gaze to the sky

Lovely lights make it dazzle

Raining down from high

Although a bit late for the weekly challenge, my cousin Kathy just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “sky” and “dazzle”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Haiku: Vast and Clear

One winter day a

Sundog did appear when the

Sky was vast and clear.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “vast” and “clear”. I am enjoying the challenge of trying to use such seemingly different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like poetry challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Writing 201 Day 9: Cold, Concrete Poem, and Epistrophe/Anaphora

Wintery Shape in the Snowscape

OH NO

THE SNOW!

YOU KNOW IT’S

COLD WHEN

YOU LOOK OUTSIDE

AND SEE THE SNOW. AS SNOW

 FLURRIES FLUTTER AROUND AND

DRIFT ON DOWN ALL TOO SOON COVER

THE GROUND. SNOW, SNOW, AND

MORE SNOW! STARTING IN NO

VEMBER OR DECEMBER,

THAT IS THE WAY THE WEATHER

WILL GO; SNOW, SNOW, AND MORE

SNOW. AND THAT SCENE OF EVER WHITE

SNOWFALL IS SIMPLY NOT ALL; FOR ALONG

WITH THAT SNOW WILL COME WINTER STORMS

AND BITTER, FRIGID COLD. THOSE DAYS, WEEKS,

AND MONTHS OF SNOW AND WINTRY COLD

CAN SEEM TO GO ON AND ON. EVEN SO,

ON CLEAR DAYS WHEN UPWARD

YOU GAZE YOU MAY SEE THE

 SKY IS A BRILLIANT HUE

OF VIVID BLUE BENEATH THE GLOWING EYE OF THE SUN.BUT THEN STILL ALL THAT PURE WHITE SNOW AND MORE SNOW UNTIL WHITE IS THE ONLY COLOR YOU KNOW. EVEN STILL WINTER DOES HAVE ITS’ THRILLS WITH SNOWSHOEING, SKIING, AND SLEDDING DOWN HILL.AND ON A BLUSTERY COLD AND SNOWY DAY YOU JUST MAY CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY ALONG THE WAY WHEN YOU SPY IN THE SKY AN UNUSUAL VIEW OF AN ARCHING SUNDOG OF A VIBRANT ORANGE HUE. IT IS A WINTER RAINBOW; A SIGN OF HOPE JUST FOR YOU.THEN BACK TO THE SNOW, SNOW, AND MORE SNOW! OH THAT SNOW NEVER SEEMS TO QUITE END UNTIL FINALLY COMES WELCOMED SIGNS OF SPRING.

Perhaps there will be a Rainbow

004

I awoke early one dark morn

And knew there may be a storm.

Oh, how I deeply yearned and sighed

As I gazed up into the dreary sky.

I so wished the clouds to go away

And this would be a much brighter day.

But I knew I needed to be content

With what God had planned; what he had meant.

For I realized the Lord knows what’s best for me

Although I don’t always understand or see.

But I hoped as I tarried along my way

Just perhaps there will be a rainbow today.

Oh that rainbow, that colorful sign in the sky

Which meant God is watching from up high;

A reminder that he faithfully keeps his promises

Through his Holy Word and through his son, Jesus.

That curving multi-colored arch is a testament

That God keeps his promises, his laws, and commandments.

Therefore, no new law or clever scheme of man

Can ever thwart God’s wisdom or alter his plan.

For from the time of Genesis and up to now,

He has maintained what is holy, right, and moral.

And also through his deep love and Jesus’ sacrifice,

We can draw near to him to receive forgiveness and lasting grace.

In our own way we each have strayed and sinned;

We’ve hurt others and deeply grieved him.

But God’s deep love endures as he never gives up;

he patiently waits for our return through his son, Jesus.

Oh to see that sight as I walk through life up a slippery slope;

That sign from God conveying his love and enduring hope.

So just maybe as I slowly tread and journey along the way,

Perhaps there will be a rainbow in the sky today.
