The Quiet Gift

The commotion of the day

gently ebbs away

into the twilight eve and

descending darkness.

No more worries or

dilemmas to solve.

No more demands to meet

or deadlines to defeat.

No more explanations of why

or expectations you tried so

hard to satisfy.

Just a sweet time to

be with the Lord;

remembering his gentle word

to be still and quietly rest.

A time of thoughtful reflection

Of that day’s direction.

A time to overcome disappointment,

pain, and tears of sorrow

with renewed hope for tomorrow.

By sleeping beneath the Lord’s

silent yet comforting hand

until the sun rises again;

the gift of peace and quietness.

Message of the Silent Sun

IMG_20160519_204057109

Shimmering over the glistening water

Is the glowing distant sunset

Casting down a glimmering reflection

Of vivid yellow and gold.

Sitting above the shadowy tree line

 Appearing suspended as it hovers

While mirroring a watery reflection below.

Oh how since creation of this universe that brilliant orb

Has kept its assigned place through the centuries,

Decades and years; months, days, and hours.

The ancient star today remains in silent yet illuminating continuation.

As if prodding me to also persevere and endeavor

In this journey of life in quiet peace and hopeful celebration.

Becky’s Haiku: Beneath the Moonlight

252

Sun fades into night;

A dark reflection appears

Beneath the moonlight.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “sun” and “moon”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

I am also participating in a photo challenge this week with the word “reflection”.  This certainly adds a bit more challenge to the haiku! To find out more about word photo challenges visit this site: https://thearanartisan.com/photo-challenge-words-2016/

The Golden River

IMG_20151022_122058541

One bright autumn day

I strolled along a waterway

Where the river curved and meandered

As contently, I walked and wandered.

Although shallow and quite low

Beneath the sun’s brilliant halo,

The stream displayed a calm vivid blue

As hardly a current rippled through;

Nature’s own reflective looking glass

Embedded between rocks and rust tinted grass.

And lo! An amazing glistening surprise

That met my wandering eyes;

As I peered across the aqua blue stream

to see a cluster of vibrant gold trees

Standing poised as their finely dressed branches hover

Over the tranquil and ever gentle river

Which mirrored in glorious reflection

A scene of equal and brilliant perfection

Of the trees crowned in leafy gold majesty

Glimmering in the water below my feet.

Such was the scene of blazing autumn gold

For my eyes and memory to grasp and behold.

I slowly continued my contemplative trek to the path’s end

And  reluctantly turned around to walk back homeagain.

And as I retraced my strolling steps,

I intently gazed so that I wouldn’t soon forget

This grand gift provided by peaceful nature;

A wondrous stroll along the Golden River.

PRAYER: Spending Time with God

Personal conversation and

Reflection with God, my Heavenly Father

Admission of sin and plea for forgiveness and mercy

Yesterday’s generous blessings remembered

Everyday needs requested and met through God’s perfect grace

Remembering always God’s greatness and never ending love through Jesus

Matthew 6:6 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“But when you prayer, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Reflecting on “EASTER” and “A Fleeting Moment”

183

For my Blogging 101 class, I was told to study my blog stats and to write a new post which reflects and expands on the posts which generated the most views. In studying my blog stats, I have found that the two posts which received the highest number of views were my EASTER poem and another poem I called, “A Fleeting Moment”.  These poems are very different and I am interested to hear from readers about why they like a certain poem or other posts on my blog. From reading some of the comments related to my “A Fleeting Moment” poem, I gathered that readers were very contemplative in reflecting on how fast and easily precious moments just slip away leaving us wishing we could recapture a certain speck of time. I certainly feel that way when I reminisce about favorite childhood memories or when remembering being with a favorite relative who has passed on.  Also I am recalling moments when I didn’t take time to stop and enjoy a beautiful pinkish-orange sunset or a vibrantly high-arching rainbow reaching into the deep, brilliant blue sky. Then I sense regret because I don’t know when such a moment will pass my way again. For the new readers who missed this poem, here it is again and please feel free to let me know what you think:

A Fleeting Moment

A precious speck of time gone

At a solitary glance!

Did you grasp that fleeting moment?

Did you behold by any chance?

As for the “EASTER” poem which generated the most views in one day, I am sure it was well received because I posted it just one day before Easter but most readers viewed it on that Easter Sunday. So, it was very timely and it focused on faith through Jesus, God’s Son. And through him, I think many respond and hold on to the new and everlasting hope we can share in him which is the point of celebrating the Easter holiday. Through having and holding onto that faith, we have hope and the endurance to continue through trials and difficult days believing that thru Jesus those hardships will come to an end. I do face my share of struggles and hard times but with hope and anticipation I can look to the future. Easter, I guess, is a very special time to reflect on one’s faith and what God has done for me. As a recap, here is that EASTER poem and I hope it continues to encourage and inspire readers today:

EASTER

Everlasting love and hope

And to Jesus never ending adoration

Son of God has risen to wash away all

Tears and heartaches, sin and suffering

Eternal life and lasting peace awaits after our own

Rebirth in Jesus and joyous resurrection
