PRESSING FORWARD

Pray in the morning and in the quiet interludes of the day;

Release to God all your cares and your worries along the way.

Enter and remain in God’s holy presence

Surrounded by his unchanging love and

Saturated with his all amazing grace.

Internal struggles that only he understands,

Now alleviated by his unseen yet compassionate hand.

Goodness and mercies, he has kept in store

Filter softly down in a warm sunlit shower.

Open heart and open mind to hear his word

Remembering he is God: Jesus is Savior and Lord

Who abides in you and promises to forever stay.

Advance and step now into the unknown future of this day

Remembering and trusting in him as you go;

Doubting never that God is everlastingly faithful.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean

on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge

him and he will make straight your paths.”

The Quiet Gift

The commotion of the day

gently ebbs away

into the twilight eve and

descending darkness.

No more worries or

dilemmas to solve.

No more demands to meet

or deadlines to defeat.

No more explanations of why

or expectations you tried so

hard to satisfy.

Just a sweet time to

be with the Lord;

remembering his gentle word

to be still and quietly rest.

A time of thoughtful reflection

Of that day’s direction.

A time to overcome disappointment,

pain, and tears of sorrow

with renewed hope for tomorrow.

By sleeping beneath the Lord’s

silent yet comforting hand

until the sun rises again;

the gift of peace and quietness.

The Christmas Tree

Although late, I still want to share a new Christmas poem. I hope everyone who is reading this has had a wonderful and blessed Christmas:

Carefully placed and standing where all can see

Heralding angel poised above the pine needle green.

Rows of colorful lights brighten the scene

Infused and trimmed by love unseen.

Stars, snowflakes, and bulbs adorn the limbs

Trustfully reminding us of him and the

Manger scene where he was born;

Arriving long ago on Christmas morn.

Shepherds heard and flocked to see the sight;

Taught by angels who appeared in a great light.

Remembering and honoring many years later

Eventual arrival of the Lord Jesus, our Savior;

Everlasting King who will rule forever and ever.

Steadfast and sincere belief

In Almighty God and his Son Jesus.

Mindful and obedient to His true and holy word;

Personally accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Living each day in joyfulness and not sorrow;

Yesterday’s tears washed away by hope for tomorrow.

Tenderness and kindness shown to everyone I see;

Remembering God’s never ending love shown to me.

Unwavering faith in the goal of reaching heaven.

Serving gladly and sharing about Him.

Teachable soul continuing to depend on Jesus

by praying and  being led daily by his Holy Spirit.

Remembering God and Remaining Thankful

Although I am one day late on posting in my Friday verse journal. I still wanted to do so.  I took some extra time today to read God’s word,  pray, and to really think about how wonderful God is. And considering it is thanksgiving, my mind is still focused on the many things I have to be thankful for. And the only reason why I have so much to be thankful for is because God loves me and blesses me in many wonderful ways; his gifts are beyond generous and he is forever loving and gracious. To start with, God through his son Jesus has given me new life and I have the hope of living in heaven. I also have the freedom to worship, pray, and read God’s word whenever I want. I also come from a loving family and have many caring friends in my life.  And just when I need it most,  a friend or a family member comes along  to encourage me.  God abundantly provides for all my needs and I have a meaningful job in which I work and care for others so that they may live their lives as independently as they can. And God is always with me so that I am never alone.

Psalms 100:3-4 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.”
