Becky’s Haiku: Broken and Over

Through time, dreams fade and

Are broken; hope dares you to

Start over again.

I have attempted a new haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “broken” and “over”. If you like word challenges and haiku’s, then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link and have fun: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

ABC Poem: Autumn

Autumn, aromatically sweet

Before the arrival of a blustery winter scene.

Crowning of billowing trees,

Decorated and adorned,

Emerge in vibrant, resin-scented leaves.

Foliage overhead of lemon,

Green, mango-orange, and shades of gold.

Hovering sphere of light

In the deep sea-blue sky

Journeys from dawn to the arrival of dusk;

Kaleidoscope of sunlight brilliance

Luminating the marbled planet while

Marching on in measured time from

New moon to full moon and from

Onset of each new year and new season; its’

Pathway determined in ancient times.

Quivering rays of stretching sunbeams

Reach the autumn forest filled with

Swaying boughs of leaf-laden trees;

Translucent rays brightly display

Unified and blended scene

Vivid in rich hues of harmony

While the cooler wind softly blows.

X-ray vision silently reveals

Yellow, orange, and green veins hidden in minute

Zig-zag stripes in the cluster of autumn leaves

Now gently falling and floating in the

Softly flowing breeze.

Waves

Waves of emerald and deep forest green;

Swaying branches of leaf-foliage trees.

Along the forest’s grassy ledge

Encroaching and clinging the river’s edge

That quiet, rippling stream.

Waves of foam rolling in the ocean breeze;

Roaring and rising high above the salty sea.

Only to stumble and fall into the watery abyss

To dissipate beneath the ocean’s crest

Until no longer visible; no longer seen.

 Lonesome waterfowl glides ever so silently

Over the swelling waves of the sea

Searching for a place to rest

With eyes so keen and wings outspread

Until his journey is complete.

Waves of time sift unswervingly

Through the furrowed land and turbulent sea;

Its’ silent resounding echo cannot be heard

Yet time’s unseen presence affects all life on earth

Until it is swallowed by eternity.

Autumn in the Air

img_20161002_122129510

Days are ever shorter

And gradually cooler;

As a later sun rise

Filters the morning sky.

Clusters of dangling leaves

Still adorned in shades of green

While clinging to their branching vines

Against the tide of passing time.

But then pause, look, and behold:

Vibrant splashes of yellow, orange, and gold.

And a leaf here and there

Silently lets go floating in the air.

The vaulting sky still illuminates radiant sunshine

As if determined to thwart the swiftly encroaching night.

Squirrels and other creatures too scurry to and fro

Gathering acorns and food before that first winter snow.

Days become ever cooler still

Until there is a blowing wintry chill

And all too soon all the once vivid leaves

Loosen their grasp in a blustery breeze

Fluttering downward, carpeting the ground;

Naturally accepting their time had come.

So quietly Autumn exits allowing Winter

To have its season amid this transitioning weather.

But even so with each new passing day,

I will choose to cherish this time that the Lord has made.

Becky’s Haiku: Passing Time

beach

Strolling along the

Beach; passing time by slowly

Sinking my bare feet.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “beach” and “time”. I am still enjoying these poetic challenges: they are like brainteasers.  If you like word challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Haiku: Time Journey

At the Pier

As time journeys through

Each year, I grow in lasting

Hope instead of fear.

I have just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “time” and “grow”. I am enjoying the challenge of creating such short poems with Ronovan’s chosen words.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Time’s JOURNEY

092903_1606[00]

Joy, love, and peace faithfully and patiently pursued;

Overcoming despair while inequality, and every adversity are forever  squelched and overruled.

Undergoing an enlightened transformation of the mind and heart.

Relying on the love and spirit of Christ who promises to never depart.

Never giving up but firmly taking hold of

Enduring and everlasting hope.

Yesterday and each new day gently fade

While graciously paving the way

For that ever hopeful and eternal

Tomorrow.

Becky’s Haiku: Class and Firm

746

Mountain pines towered,

Nature’s class of elegance;

Resolute and firm.

In time they’ve weathered

Through storms of wind, snow, and rain

Solid, determined.

They’re a testament

To all who journey and see

Their hidden beauty.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “class” and “firm”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  The challenge can be in just determining a suitable topic to bring the words together.  Plenty of times, I have sat here looking at a blank page just trying to think of such a subject. The Need to Weep

003

Sometimes in life there is a need

To bitterly mourn and grieve

Or to quietly, even silently weep.

As not each and every day

Is a time to joyously celebrate

Or participate in a festive holiday.

For there are moments in life

As in the morning we arise

We are met with shock and strife.

Over a sudden and jarring event

That leaves us with inward discontent

And in a state of hurt and bewilderment.

Such as the loss of a dear loved one

Or that of our most faithful friend

And instantly we know, life will never be the same.

Also too we sometimes suddenly lose

All we have and the world we once knew

And our hearts cannot help feeling heavy and blue.

Suddenly the world before our eyes

Had changed too fast and so we sigh

Wondering about this changed new life.

“Now what is going to happen to me?

And how will this new and altered life be?

I need help to understand and see.”

Days pass by like a blurring parade;

Sometimes I awake feeling brave

But often I am very afraid.

Night time can be hardest of all

As I lay in bed as darkness falls

Feeling all alone with no one to call.

But somewhere inside is a deep desire

To rise again triumphant over the fire;

The flames of trouble and sticky quagmire.

Where I know I felt utterly trapped

By the dark side which need not last

As one bright day all will be in the past.

Time to rise up ever so victoriously

And choose to live in faith and believe

Good days are still ahead stretching into eternity.

So on this though gloomy and dreary day

I will arise and to the Lord will pray,

“Thank you Lord for helping me along the way.”

For it is he who guides my heart and my mind;

Showing me his grace time after time

Through showers of love and mercy intertwined.

That doesn’t mean life will be perfectly sweet;

There will be difficult days and troubled sleep

And that need to bitterly and quietly weep.

Then I remember Jesus is there when down I fall;

He is with me when the darkness swallows all

And will never leave until we stand again triumphant after all.
