Becky’s Haiku: Good Night Blessing

sunset-on-the-prairie

Setting sun like a

Glowing flame kissed the earth with

A good night blessing.

I have attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “flame” and “kiss”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like word challenges and haiku’s, then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Becky’s Pantoum: Once upon a Warm Winter Day

img_20160131_155146752

Once upon a warm winter day

When gladly the birds did sing

As banks of snow melted away

While melodious carols did ring.

When gladly the birds did sing

As the radiant sun steadily climbed

While melodious carols did ring

Filling the lofty, brightened sky.

As the radiant sun steadily climbed

Chasing away the blanket of clouds

Filling the lofty, brightened sky,

And softly caressing the dampened ground.

Chasing away the blanket of clouds,

The glowing orb continued to shine

 And softly caressing the dampened ground

While also reaching the hearts of mankind.

The glowing orb continued to shine

Delivering a message of hope and peace;

While also reaching the hearts of mankind

To instill a gentle tune of harmony.

Delivering a message of hope and peace

As banks of snow melted away

To instill a gentle tune of harmony

Once upon a warm winter day.

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 3,700 times in 2015. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 3 trips to carry that many people.

Becky’s Haiku: It’s Slippery out there!

North wind spins frigid

Air: water puddle freezes.

Where you step, beware!

Happy NEW YEAR 2017

img_20160131_150959271

New dreams, opportunities, and possibilities

Every day dawn’s a new beginning

Willing to wait and live by God’s love, mercy, and grace.

Yesterday is gone but lessons and memories remain.

Each bright morning is a treasured gift; each starlit evening a cherished blessing

Already looking forward in solid and steadfast faith

Ready to continue this life journey on the path of hope and grace.

Becky’s Haiku: Feel and Space

img_20160131_155346268_hdr

Winter wind blows to

Fill all land and space til I

Can’t feel my numb face.

No more going out

In the cold; must stay inside

And let the wind blow.

Yes! Stay warm indoors

And dream of Spring when lilacs

Bloom and grass turns green.

EMBRACING Jesus Everyday

014

Enter his glorious presence by prayer;

Meditate on his voice in his Holy Word.

Be open-minded with a teachable heart;

Remember the infinite truths he imparts.

Acknowledge and visit him through the day;

Center your thoughts on his nearness along your pathway.

Immerse in his saving grace and unending love

Never forgetting he watches over you from above.

Gently, gently he leads you like young sheep

From dawn of morn and while you quietly sleep.

“Your word is lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Psalms 119:105 (Holy Bible NIV)

A Christmas Poem

IMG_20151226_125850093

Kiss and taste this Christmas season;

Enjoy quiet moments with God’s Son.

Remember and keep in your heart

How God promised his Son from afar

To descend from the glory of heaven

And dwell with sinful and erring man.

He arrived as a babe born in a stable

Where a manger of hay was his cradle.

He lived on earth to teach us about heaven

Where all who believe will live with him.

Baptized and touched by a descending dove,

He came to share with us God’s never ending love.

Though he died on a cross he also rose again

And has returned to the realms of heaven.

But as the Holy Spirit, he descends

To live in the hearts of believing men.

For all who choose to joyously believe

And this eternal gift of God has gladly received,

May your heart be filled to the brim

Of everlasting Christmas blessings from Him.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
