Friday Verse Journal I Samuel 16:7b

118

At times, I feel a sense of rejection and also failure. I find this in relationships, sometimes at work, and in my endeavors to be a writer. Many times this is because I have made an error or fall to sin. Other times it is because others only see my outward appearance and my outward actions without understanding my heart or my thoughts. And often the world will only see what it wants to see, remain unkind, and not seek understanding. I know there others who may feel that way too. Only God can see us on the inside. Only God can understand the depths of our thoughts and our hearts and in God’s lovely eyes we are accepted into his infinite love. God can see what others cannot see; God can see the beauty hidden deep inside of you and me.

I Samuel 16:7b (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outside appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Lately life has been unpleasant and deep sadness has crept in. My heart is twinged in pain.  Like many others who try so hard in this life to love, care, and help others, I endure my share of heartaches and difficulties. I face disappointments and struggles that just don’t end. I often feel that my efforts in life don’t mean anything but all I can do is keep praying and just keep trying to do what is good and right in Jesus’ eyes. Also, i am trying to keep my focus on Jesus and the wonderful home waiting in heaven. I am trying to hang onto that sure and certain hope which only Jesus can give:

John 14:1-3 (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so would I have told you that I go to a prepare a place for you? And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you with me so that where I am you will be also.”

Thinking About HEAVEN

When the days become extra hard and long and when troubles and problems mount up I am trying to take a few moments to just sit and think about God and his heavenly home. Especially when I am feeling very, very alone, I need to stop and remember that Jesus is always near, Jesus understands me and would never reject or hurt me like the world likes to do.  When I remember Jesus and stop to pray and listen to him then I know I am not really all alone. And when my earthly future doesn’t look very  bright, at the moment,  it helps to remember heaven, our perfect  future home.

Holy home of Jesus
Everlasting kingdom of God
Angels and loved ones gathered forever
Vast, serene, and beautiful
Eternal place of love, peace, and joy
Never ending life

Friday Verse Journal Philippians 4:11b-13

Although it is no longer Friday, I still wanted to post something in my Friday Verse Journal. I am still working on the idea of being content no matter what my situation may be. This is for me an everyday challenge. Sudden or unexpected obstacles in life really do rattle me. Also when certain challenges in life just seem to take too long to cope with and resolve. It is very easy trust and believe in God through his Son, Jesus when things go well and when things are going well for my friends and loved ones. But when troubles mount and when bad news is revealed then, it is not so easy to just trust him and be content to wait on God’s time to work out all things for the good. However the idea of staying content and being at peace through knowing Jesus is my anchor. If I become too fearful or somehow very upset and my faith is being challenged then I must find my way back to God and keep depending and believing in him.

Philippians 4:11b-13 (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“For I have learned in every situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low and how to be abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

Learning to be CONTENT

DCP_1008

Calm temperance and being at quiet peace
with how God had lovingly made me.
Open-minded and patient with God’s perfect will
which over darkness and evil will prevail.
Not being envious nor deeply desiring
fine splendid things which this world is offering.
Trusting in God’s timely and gracious provisions;
his love, unending mercy, and sovereign wisdom.
Eyes firmly focused on the Lord Jesus Christ
bound in unshakable hope of everlasting life.
Never forgetting God’s ultimate plan for me and you;
remembering his promises will all come true.
Thankful heart while living in God’s good grace
knowing one day we’ll see him, face to face.

Friday Verse Journal Psalms 46:10a

Lately, as I pray and contemplate about things, I realize that I am easily distracted by the obstacles in my personal life and too easily led astray by distractions of this world. I need to pause, turn away from distractions and be quiet. And in that silence just remember God:

Psalms 46:10a (Holy Bible American Standard Version):

“Be still and know that I am God.”

God’s Night Light in the Sky

004

One night I gazed into the darkened sky and saw the fullest moon shining so bright.

It was God’s lesser light you may see to rule at night over land and sea.

It was his night light which he purposed to be glowing brightly as I quietly sleep.

For God’s silent presence fills the night air to comfort me and chase away my fears.

God’s night light shimmers in the blackened sky to fend off evilness lurking in the still night.

He has promised to faithfully stay nearby to keep me safe until the dawn of morning light.

It is his night light you must see glowing ever brightly for you and me.

God keeps all his promises you should know so we would believe and never let go.

Yes it is God’s night light in the sky to brighten up the deepest, darkest night.

He turns on his night light just for you and me so we may clearly see and firmly believe.

He keeps his night light on in that darkened sky while keeping watch through the night.

So we may gently and peacefully sleep as God’s night light quietly shines over land and sea.

God is Whispering God is Whispering

039

God is whispering, God is whispering; you hear him in the wind and waving trees

You stop to pause and take a rest when suddenly you hear him in the swishing breeze.

God is whispering, God is whispering; his unseen spirit continues to move.

His eyes travel the earth watching those who to him remain steadfastly true.

God is whispering, God is whispering: can you hear him in the lofty air?

He stays nearby revealing himself to those in his trusting tender care.

God is whispering, God is whispering to every one wandering on this earth.

He longs to give us new life through a joyful second birth.

God is whispering, God is whispering; his eternal words are written down

In the Holy Book, in all creation, and on the hearts of those who will share his home.

God is whispering, God is whispering for everyone to be still and hear.

Through his Son he is calling. Can you hear him? Will you draw near?

Friday Verse Journal 1 Samuel 16:7b

Here is a verse that reminds me that God is not like man in that man puts so much emphasis on one’s outward appearance and physical beauty but rather he pierces  my inner being and gazes into my heart: He understands me better than I know myself.

1 Samuel 16;7b (Holy Bible New International Version):

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.”
