Writing 201 Day 10: Pleasure, Sonnet, and Apostrophe

062

“What in Life gives me the Most Pleasure?”

Today I sit and pause in deep contemplation

As I search inside my soul to truthfully answer

A mind provoking and piercing question,

“What in life gives me the most pleasure?”

This small mental quest indeed causes me to ponder.

Well I do enjoy being with friends and visiting family,

Traveling, and embarking on some adventures.

I also like reading, writing stories, and poetry.

I also anticipate strolling on long journeys

Into the forest, along a beach, or across a meadow.

Where in nature I might find some lovely discovery

And with my camera take some new photos.

But the most pleasing thing is quiet and lasting peace

In my mind and heart which only Jesus can give to me.

Writing 201 Day 6: Face, Found Poetry, and Chiasmus

019

 Hidden Face

In fear of being singled out,

Teased and hurt all over again,

She keeps herself safely hidden.

She felt the need to hide her face

As if in some buried disgrace.

For in memory she is still haunted

With visions of being ridiculed and taunted

During her long ago school days

Where she would fall in a familiar maze

Of classrooms, corridors, and hallways.

She often fretted and wondered

Which unkind classmate was around the next corner?

So, even today she fears that same stabbing rejection

Although longing deeply for one true friend,

She remains ever quiet; hardly speaking.

How she has learned to hide her pain

With her solemn and non-committal facial expression;

In the midst of a crowd, she cleverly blends in.

She walks around town with

Her covered head tilted down,

Never looking up, never seeing

The sweet beauty of day or the warmth of the sun.

She misses the rainbow’s arching arm

In the quiet calm after a thundering storm.

She misses the watchful eagle

Sitting high on its rocky pinnacle

And his sudden majestic dive

As he soars through the sky.

He glides over the crystal blue river

Spying a fish swimming like a quiver.

Fear and lack of self-assurance prevent

 Others from seeing her true consonance;

The unique person she is meant to be and her

True personality ever so carefully

 Buried and shielded, so mysteriously.

But oh how she desires and longs to be

A courageous and different person, so free.

But that old foe, Fear, keeps her hemmed within

A deep darkness but soon a light does penetrate in

As one fine noon day, she decides s to be brave

Determining she had a new path; a new trail to blaze.

For it had occurred to her that she indeed had the ultimate choice;

She could remain always sheltered or make known her own voice.

As finally it dawned as she was quiet and reflective

To start thinking differently; a new perspective.

She realized that in the heart of the matter

It was she who kept herself so silently sheltered;

There was no one else but

Just her own timid self

Allowing her being to be trapped

By old recollections of her past

Which robbed her of joy for today

As deep inside, her spirit withered away.

So she promised with a hint of trepidation,

But also with a note of celebration,

 “I’ll try, I’ll try today!

to let my face be seen; not hidden.

Oh yes, my hidden face will be seen today.”

Writing 101 Day 6: Trying to Write with Meaning

038

I am sitting with my mind as blank as can be

As I struggle on what to write meaningfully

which others will like to read and see.

I started my blog over a year ago now

Not knowing, not evening guessing how

It might grow through many posts and photos

And reach others who might gladly follow.

For I do not write near enough

As I find daily writing a bit too much

For me to endure and keep up.

However, I have learned with some consistency

I can write and post with some regularity

And so build up my blog continually.

I try to alter and vary my topics

Not knowing what others prefer to discuss

When through my blog they scroll down and up.

I explore the faith inside my heart,

About my life journey so far.

And new ideas that cause me to wonder.

I write some prose but mostly poems

As I sit and think here at home

Pondering my days and where I have roamed.

Perhaps it is time to write something else;

Maybe more fiction and less of myself?

I do enjoy sci-fi and history as well.

Or perhaps a guest biography

Or something in the news, I see.

Writing such new posts would be a challenge

Making my mind turn and bend

To still write for others to still comprehend.

I try to write concise and with clarity

Making sure each line makes sense to me

And hoping it conveys a message meaningfully.

One thing I hope my blog to be encouraging

To anyone who comes scrolling and reading

And that they find something worthy with meaning.

Therefore as you stop and look at my blog today,

Please know that I am thankful you wandered my way

Taking a quiet moment to read what I have to say.

Loss of a Dream

039

The loss of a dream

Drains my hope until the Lord

inspires my still soul.

He opens my eyes

With hope renewed and keeps my

Heart forever true.

Focused on him in

His home above, I’m anchored

In faith and his love.

He remains in my

Heart from morning’s dew and through

Night’s shadowy rule.

Now onward I go

Through this new day, trusting

In him all the way.

When Feelings take Charge

029

When unsuppressed feelings take charge,

I often overindulge my yearning heart.

Oh yes, that’s the deep danger of

Releasing myself in worldly lust and love.

And when that passion ceases and finally ends

My soul is torn and empty once again.

I need to safely guard my wayward heart

In everlasting truth and the way of the Lord.

He wants me to turn and to flee far from sin

Knowing it breaks and tears my heart within.

It burdens my spirit and leaves great pain

With feelings of guilt and hidden shame.

Oh such sad deep grief I often do bear

When I’ve fallen into sin’s deceptive snare.

Time to be still and quietly kneel before

The Lord admitting in my own words,

“Lord, I have sinned again  and am so sorry;

Please do forgive me and still love me.

Help me to turn away on this new day

From this great sin that impedes my way.

Help me to do my best to live and be still

Inside the pleasant boundaries of your good will.

Thank you for sending Jesus to give

His own life so that I may forever live.

For upon that cross oh so many years ago

He paid for all the wickedness of my sinful soul.

Help me to constantly remember you through this new day

And lead me Lord renewed as I journey along life’s way.”

Writing 101 Day Two: A Room with a View

043

I Would Zoom to Heaven

If I could go anywhere and see anything then

I would zoom to heaven to see my mom again.

She had left too suddenly and too soon;

Unexpectedly, her life on earth came to an end.

I cannot describe the pain and the void

That sometimes dwells inside my heart

All I can say is that I ache so deeply

As in my mind and thoughts, she is never very far.

I know she is well now with no more pain and

No more heartaches or streaming tears

No more illnesses or hardships and

No more thunderstorms or evilness to fear.

What would she being doing if I

Could fly this moment to her side?

I am sure she’d be wandering through

Heaven’s garden and pause with a contented sigh.

Eagerly, she might follow a sandy path

Lined with tall grass and daisies of every hue

To the rim of a lake just to hear the choir

Of the frogs and the chirping crickets, too.

How she loved flowers, the birds, and

Droopy weeping willow trees.

Perhaps she’d relax in a patio chair

Watching, gazing ever so peacefully.

Just like at home, she’d sit just outside

Near a bubbling fountain pond

With the water glistening beneath

The sun’s warm, extending arms.

She’d watch for hummingbirds and

Perhaps an oriole would fly near

Their colorful wings would flutter while

They daintily sipped from the feeders.

Tulips would be in bloom in a

Nearby, carefully planted flowerbed

Some pink, some yellow,

And some vividly red.

Another flowerbed would lay

Across a grassy, shallow hill

Blooming with sunny

Yellow daffodils.

Cedar and oak trees would

Stand flanking the road

Concealing the yard and

Maintaining the quietness of

our century old country home.

Perhaps, a giant pine tree would tower nearby

As if guarding this new peaceful paradise;

This new home in the heavenly blue sky.

Then mom would reach to hug me so tenderly

Saying, “I know you are sad and so alone but

You mustn’t worry so much about me.

For I am well with Jesus always at my side

And here everything is as it was meant to be.”

I would sit a while longer feeling her

Arms gently and lovingly hold me;

Not wanting her to let go but knowing that

I must return where I am meant to be.

For whatever is my work and my purpose

On earth, it is not done; not yet complete.

So reluctantly I would return to finish

The special tasks, God has in mind for me.

Tasks of kindness and caring, and

Of sharing God’s never-ending love.

Tasks also of helping others

So they may have relief and hope.

For God has a purpose for us all

And a perfect, everlasting plan

I must choose to believe and trust him

Even when I don’t understand.

Knowing also that my mom is watching

And Jesus always helps me ever so faithfully

I’ll willingly return and quietly finish the

Special work God has in mind for me.

Friday Verse Journal Psalms 27:14

046

Once again, I am one day late on this; it seems I need an extra day to pray and dwell on this post. Each new day in life can be full of unanswered questions and new challenges. Just when I think I have found solutions, a new dilemma arises. And often, it is an unwelcomed problem. Among other lessons, I know God is nearby and is teaching to continue in faith when the path ahead is cloudy and obscure. He is teaching me to continue to trust in him when I am having a hard time trusting in others. He is teaching me to continue in prayer even when I am at a loss for words.  He is teaching me to remain at peace when I see a river of trouble ahead. And when I am most impatient for answers and solutions to all of my dilemmas, he is teaching me to be patient and wait; with a peaceful, sincere, and believing heart, I am to patiently and quietly wait on the Lord.

Psalms 27:14 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait on the Lord.”

Pics from Camera 2-8-2015 020

I know I am writing this a few days late but I still felt a desire to do so. Here is another image compliment of the Stellarium App on my kindle fire. These are two nebulas near each other and are known as the heart and soul nebula. It is amazing how much beauty God has created in our world and in the universe. He is so infinite that there is no end to his wisdom, his creativity, his beauty, and his love. God loves each of us so much that he sent his only son Jesus to die for us on the cross to take away our sins. He wants us, in return to believe in him through his son and to love him with all our beings. And only God’s faithfulness and love lasts forever.  Like the amazing beauty, I sometimes find around me, I am awestruck by God’s amazing and wondrous love. And all’s he wants from me is to love him back wholeheartedly.

Luke 10:27 (Holy Bible New International Version):

…”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”
