LIVING in the MOMENT

183

Letting go of worry and struggles for tomorrow;

Instead choosing to be content and not entrenched in hatred or sorrow.

Valuing this new day that the Lord has made.

Investing in this time by focusing heart and mind

Not on the glittering distractions of this world;

Gazing rather upon heaven through the eyes of God’s Holy Word.

Maintaining and walking in steadfast faith

On the Lord and his wondrously saving grace.

Making this minute, this hour, and this day count;

Enjoying the sweet quiet time which you have found.

Never forgetting to cheerfully share

Treasures and blessings which the Lord has placed in your care.

Hebrews 13:5 (Holy Bible New International Version):

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Becky’s Haiku: Time Journey

At the Pier

As time journeys through

Each year, I grow in lasting

Hope instead of fear.

I have just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “time” and “grow”. I am enjoying the challenge of creating such short poems with Ronovan’s chosen words.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Return of the Black-eyed Susan

IMG_20160707_115350838

She had returned once again:

That Black-eyed Susan, my friend.

Resting in the tall, wild grass;

Lemon beauty lass.

Every summer

I watch for her; her simple

Beauty I treasure.

In the grass along

The road; she blooms also in

A hidden meadow.

Each year I search til

I see her golden face so

Familiar to me.

Something about this

Flower causes me to pause,

Think and to ponder.

I find her every

Year like a friend who stays

Close by; so near.

Through the years, life will

Progress to eternity.

And it is by faith

That I learn to be quiet

And patiently wait.

 She then reminds me

That although it can

Be hard to see I must choose

To live peacefully.

Choosing peacefulness

And quietness is hard when

I want to be heard.

But most soothingly

I’m reminded that God hears

My prayers; my every word.

So every year I

Seek her face to remember

God’s true saving grace.

And through love shown by

Him I can live each day in

Peace hidden within.

Isaiah 54: 10 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord who has compassion on you.

Becky’s Haiku: Dazzle and Sky

IMG_20160618_190519069

Sunlight dazzled in

 The clouded sky; rays of hope

In the gray twilight.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “dazzle” and “sky”. I am continuing to enjoy these haiku challenges.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Everlasting FREEDOM

Easter Cross

Forever and ever we are free;

Rebirth in Christ through saving belief.

Everlasting and new life;

Eternal home in the vast heavenly sky.

Destined by grace to reside eternally with him;

Owed to Jesus who humbly died for our sins.

Made to persevere, to hope, and to dream

In life, in love, and everlasting liberty.

Becky’s Haiku: Birth and Cheer

695

Birth of summer brings

Good cheer as warmer days and

Late sunsets are here.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “birth” and “cheer”. I am enjoying the challenge of putting different and even opposite words in such a short poem.  If you like challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept Ronovan’s latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

By the Bay

IMG_20160618_190449462

Water lapped in tranquil, glassy waves

Emitting a sense of peace, stillness, and grace.

Sunlight brilliantly streamed

In white translucent sheets

Between clouds of tinted gray

While brightening the horizon across the bay.

Occasional sailboats and a lone ferry

I perceived gliding upon the softly swaying sea

Of gently rolling waves

As I rode by on the late evening train.

Lapping swells appeared to try

To reach upward and touch the sky.

As if to join and be a larger part

Of this vast and endless universe.

The small sea attempted to rise and grasp heaven

 unite with the borderless ocean.

But lo, an intruding mass of land

Firmly obstructed the small sea’s determined path

To rise up and stretch further still

Or to weave around the intruding hill.

So this small and gentle sea

Learned contentment and just to be

Satisfied in its’ uniquely assigned place

Lapping quietly in this crystal blue bay.

MEMORIES OF DAD

Me and My Dad

Merry blue eyes and laughter

Ever loving and caring father

Moments of quiet conversations

Of his life experiences and wisdom.

Retelling lighthearted stories of his youth

In fond remembrance of what he used to do.

Eager with friends and family to celebrate

Sharing his smile and love during the holidays.

Overworked in the fields and at the mine:

Filled with family duty to provide.

Days camping near a Hatfiield lake;

And fishing at a favorite place.

Determined to live and remain strong;

No longer on earth but alive in heaven.

Becky’s Haiku: Stream of Light

IMG_20160611_095008415_HDR

Light streamed the top edge

Of my door; I wondered what

This day has in store?

I learned the answer

Clear and fair; God provided

For my earnest prayer.

A day of blessing

It came to be because he

Filled my heartfelt plea.

A plaguing problem

 Needed a solution; solved

By his provision.

Oh how it had nagged

At me until I felt in

Deep despairing need.

I so anguished and

Agonized for days not quite

Trusting God has a way.

Suddenly a plan

Came to be as God seemed to

Say, “believe in me.”

And just as he has

Provided before, he soon

sent help to my door.

Why do I not trust

And believe that Jesus in

His love cares for me?

He who for my sins

Died so I may live in him

 In faith and new life?

Why did I question

For days if God did hear when

I so wept and prayed?

I had doubted him

With a frown though he told me

 to not be cast down.

His love is sure and

Everlasting; he always

There, ne’er forsaking.

 Lo, he listens to

Me and answers in his own

Time so patiently.

Sweet peace now nurtured

My soul; must remember: God

Is ever faithful.

Whether at noon, morn,

Or at night, he’s my hope; a

Constant stream of light.

Remember Jesus is always near

004

Cling to your faith and let go of your fear;

Remember Jesus is always near.

He is never too far or out of reach;

Only trust and earnestly seek.

Though troubles rise up like ocean waves

Which threaten to overwhelm and overtake

Our trembling spirits and our souls

In peals of crashing thunder rolls.

Time to stop gazing at the swirling sea

And also ignore the wind-swept swaying trees.

Instead in faith lift your tear-filled eyes

To the heavenly realms above the clouded sky.

Where the Lord stands watching over you

And sees all that you are going through.

He’s leaning over with an outstretched had

To pull you out of the gripping quicksand.

He is just a prayer, a phone call, away

Waiting to swiftly come to your aid.

Must call on him and truly believe

He can calm any turbulent sea.

And bring you to a safe and peaceful place

Where you can rest and be restored in faith.

So, cling to your faith and let go of your fear;

Remember Jesus is always near.
