GIFT OF THE SUNSET

695

Gently, softly, this day concludes

In twilight’s glowing interlude.

Future endeavors laid to rest;

Tomorrow will appear soon enough.

Over the mountains and sea, the sun has journeyed;

Finally resting upon the windswept prairie.

Thankfulness fills the mind and heart;

Happy contentment it does impart.

Every blessing today received;

Sent from the Lord who watches and sees.

Under the canopy of a pink streaked sky,

Nestles the sun on the brink of encroaching night;

Seeping  lower, dipping down.

Evening soon clouds the darkened horizon.

Time to rest while wrapped in the cloak of deep night

Knowing the sun will dawn at morning’s light.

Becky’s Limerick: Different Dream

003

You whine and pine until you’re blue

Because your hopes and dreams don’t come true.

But, my child, must have faith to see;

Must trust and believe

That I have a different dream for you.

A dream to lift you from your downhill slope;

Although not all is in your scope

To fully understand

My true and wiser plan.

Yet it exists so you may have peace and new hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

Pressing Forward

039

Stepping towards each tomorrow,

Set aside sorrow;

Let hope reign for the future.

Days and nights will soon follow

Beneath sun’s shadow

And the pale moon’s faint glimmer.

Let joy enter that hollow

While peace, like marrow,

Fill the heart’s deepest chamber.

Solo Journey

011

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 Holy Bible NIV

Each new day I face the unknown

Seemingly all by myself; all alone.

I follow a path I can’t fully see

Where danger sometimes eludes me.

It is an ongoing trek into the future;

A solo journey I continue to endeavor.

Since my youth, I have been walking this path

And only the Lord knows how long it will last.

I try to travel in sweet content and joyfulness

Trying to remember God is near, and through him I’m blessed.

But some days are harder to strain and see

The love and goodness that the Lord is showing me.

I sometimes miss the sun and rainbows in life

As I face obstacles and endure strife.

Because I’m too worried and too wrapped in deep doubt

As if I’ve been swallowed by a thick, foreboding thundercloud.

I stumble in the pit of that deep dark night

Yearning to see a comforting and glowing light.

Something to rekindle my lost and trampled hope;

Someone to help me rise with courage and cope.

I stumble around as my mind and heart cannot see

And then fall down ever so continuously.

Finally, I pause to rest and lo, I find a friend

For Jesus had come seeking me yet again.

For in this world of worry I can find peace

When I stop to remember Jesus is with me.

For he promises to never ever leave

And that no one can snatch me from thee.

Out of the darkness I emerge again

Seeing the rainbows and the sun.

So as I continue this solo journey on my own,

I’m again reminded that I am not really all alone.

Becky’s Haiku: Hopes and Dreams

118

Some wants and hopes in

 life simply shatter leaving

My dreams in tatters.

Though not knowing what’s

the matter, God still loves and

restores my future.

And Whatever may

be, I will walk with Jesus

 for eternity

I have just attempted another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog this time using the words “wants” and “tatters”. Also, I felt compelled to write three verses for this one.  If you like poetry and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/tag/haiku-challenge/

Poetry 201 Assignment 3: Trust, Acrostic, and Internal Rhyme

On day 3 in my poetry 201 class, I was asked to write a new poem containing the word “trust”, using an acrostic and internal rhyme. I must admit, this is getting more challenging but I think I did. Do you think I accomplished the assignment? Here is my new poem:

039

Looking into the FUTURE

Forward gazing into the

Unexplored and unknown.

Trusting and embracing that

Unfilled hopes will soon become

Realized dreams at the end of

Enduring determination, my dear friend.
