Writing 101 Day 2: Oh the Things I do Enjoy

062

Waking up in the morning

To find a sun-filled day

And wondering what beauty

God will show me along the way.

Strolling in the quiet forest

Or along a flowing stream;

Hearing twittering birdsong

And feeling the gentle breeze.

Walking along a quiet path

and seeing new flowers blooming;

my favorite daisies to find

are the slender black-eyed Susans.

Traveling in the autumn and

Also in the late spring;

To see the altering landscape

During the changing seasons.

Stopping to rest and to think

At a tranquil and quiet place;

Spending some moments in prayer

And staying near to God in enduring faith.

Journeying through the day

From early morning to late night

And knowing that Jesus stays with me;

Always in my heart and at my side.

Hearing the phone ring and

And talking to family or a friend.

Although I am a quiet person,

I often don’t want the call to end.

Visiting family or close friends

When I have that chance to go

Sometimes I cannot travel far

Because of weather and especially snow.

Resting in bed, writing, or

Reading a new novel;

Sometimes science fiction

And then a good mystery to follow.

Laying quietly in bed at the

End of a long working day

Remembering Jesus stays near

And promises to forever stay.

Becky’s Haiku: Tears and Wine

015

Streaming tears subside

As quiet peace stills and soothes

The soul like sweet wine.

I have just attempted yet another haiku challenge from Ronovan Writes blog using the words “tears” and “wine”. I am enjoying the puzzle of trying to use such seemingly different and even opposite words in such a short poem. These prompts from Ronovan can really be a challenge to the mind.  If you like poetry challenges and haiku’s then I invite you to also accept his latest challenge at this link: https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/

Blogging 101 and Writing 101: A Letter to my Visitors

130

Welcome to my personal blog and I am so happy you dropped by. I was recently given the assignment to blog about “Why I write.” It is my hope that you find something that you enjoy here. I now have been blogging on this site for a little over a year. I use this blog site as an avenue of expressing myself through writing poetry and some stories. I also try to share some of my photos. I tend to be this very introverted person who is leading a very quiet life most of the time. I try to be more extroverted but that is often quite a challenge for me to do. I go to work almost every day and have contact with co-workers and some very close friends. I also keep contact with family and visit them when I can. But at times I will try to be more outgoing or something. If I do seem to become somehow too outspoken or say the wrong thing, it doesn’t take too much to knock me down and I just disappear for a while; sometimes a long while depending on the situation.

Anyway, about a year ago, I became very frustrated with myself being stuck in this shyness cocoon where I am too afraid to come out and just be myself.  I felt I had neat things to share and needed someone to share them with. So I got this great idea to try blogging. I set up my blog on WordPress but then didn’t know what to do with it. So I read and studied up on blogging to see what it was all about. I also visited other blogs to see how it was done. I found blogs on all sorts of subjects. I learned that a blogger needed to write with a purpose and maintain a consistent theme. That way, readers may become familiar the type of blog one writes and come to know what they may expect at one’s blog site. I then arrived at the idea of using my blog to share my poetry and to hopefully, be upbeat and encouraging to others. So I came up with the theme, “on a quest to find inspiration in everyday life.” It is often too easy for me to become downtrodden and discouraged. So,  I am on this personal quest to discover inspiration for myself and for others who might want to follow my blog.

Keeping up with the blog is very motivational for me as well as a challenge as I do go through dry spells. But overall, I tend to write poems and try to share interesting stories as a way to share a piece of myself. I write about my faith, things I find in nature that inspire me, and some personal stories. I continue to hope that all who visit find something that might encourage them. Blogging has become a winding and spiritual journey; I hope you enjoy seeing a piece of my blogging journey. Thank you again, for visiting my blog and may you be blessed in a very special way today.

SIMPLY TRUST

014

Steadfast and sincere belief

In Almighty God and his Son Jesus.

Mindful and obedient to His true and holy word;

Personally accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Living each day in joyfulness and not sorrow;

Yesterday’s tears washed away by hope for tomorrow.

Tenderness and kindness shown to everyone I see;

Remembering God’s never ending love shown to me.

Unwavering faith in the goal of reaching heaven.

Serving gladly and sharing about Him.

Teachable soul continuing to depend on Jesus

by praying and  being led daily by his Holy Spirit.

THANKFUL HEART

021

Tender words of God soothing my soul;

Harmonious and sweet hymns soon follow.

Awake and stirring inside of me

Never ending source of lasting peace.

Kindest showers of blessings from Jesus;

Flowing and bubbling through the Holy Spirit.

Under the Lord’s loving and ever watchful eye

Lingering in the stillness with a contented sigh.

Hearing and cherishing the sweet words of him;

Ever mindful of God’s all-knowing wisdom.

After a long and struggling day,

Remembering Jesus is still leading the way.

Trusting and believing fully in him,

My heart is happy and thankful within.

Between seasons, bridges of change appear

As time moves us through each year.
