Friday Verse Journal Matthew 6:25-27

014

“Do not worry,”

The Lord quietly told me.

“Remember I am God, the Lord Almighty.

Do not worry,”

The Lord comforted the spirit within me,

“and I am your friend for eternity.

“Do not worry,”

The Lord continued to comfort me,

“and do not fear the darkness in the eve

When the sun drops below the distant trees

And the night dawns darkening the vast sky

While you try to sleep until the morning light.

I will stay in your heart and forever by your side;

And I am always with you as your life guide.

So do not worry

When rain and clouds are all you see.

As you awake peering out the window

And see in dismay what you fear most.

Remember instead and do not fear

I am with you; I am here.

Focus on now; focus on today

Lean on me as I lead you the way.

Do not worry about tomorrow

Or be troubled and filled with sorrow.

Let me walk with you and be your friend

Today, and every tomorrow into everlasting.”

Matthew 6:25-27 (Holy Bible New International Version):

“Therefore do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?  And look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one  of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

The Lord is my SHIELD

051

Surrounds and protects me with his Light

Helps and comforts me day and night.

Indwelling Holy Spirit

Enables me to see and hear him.

Living each moment by trusting him only.

Depending on him for all I need today and for eternity.

Be Still

456

Be still and be enveloped by his peace.

Be still in prayer; for his love and forgiveness you’ll receive.

Be still as the morning light filters in;

Be still and let this day gently begin.

Be still in the lull and quiet moments of the day

For they are raindrops of blessings along the way.

Be still when the western sun rests on the horizon;

Be still to absorb his glowing love and affection.

Be still as you lay awake in the depths of night.

Be still and know he is Lord and everything will be made right.

Just be still.

Solo Journey

011

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 Holy Bible NIV

Each new day I face the unknown

Seemingly all by myself; all alone.

I follow a path I can’t fully see

Where danger sometimes eludes me.

It is an ongoing trek into the future;

A solo journey I continue to endeavor.

Since my youth, I have been walking this path

And only the Lord knows how long it will last.

I try to travel in sweet content and joyfulness

Trying to remember God is near, and through him I’m blessed.

But some days are harder to strain and see

The love and goodness that the Lord is showing me.

I sometimes miss the sun and rainbows in life

As I face obstacles and endure strife.

Because I’m too worried and too wrapped in deep doubt

As if I’ve been swallowed by a thick, foreboding thundercloud.

I stumble in the pit of that deep dark night

Yearning to see a comforting and glowing light.

Something to rekindle my lost and trampled hope;

Someone to help me rise with courage and cope.

I stumble around as my mind and heart cannot see

And then fall down ever so continuously.

Finally, I pause to rest and lo, I find a friend

For Jesus had come seeking me yet again.

For in this world of worry I can find peace

When I stop to remember Jesus is with me.

For he promises to never ever leave

And that no one can snatch me from thee.

Out of the darkness I emerge again

Seeing the rainbows and the sun.

So as I continue this solo journey on my own,

I’m again reminded that I am not really all alone.

Writing 101 Day 5: Where is My Home?

053

I am a quiet wanderer walking alone;

Each new day I seem to follow the same lonely road.

I arise from bed and journey through the day

Working and resting along the way.

Some days are predictable and I know just what to do

While others present obstacles and I barely pass through.

Some mornings are full of warm temps and a bright shining sun

While others are filled with storms and never just one.

For through life I meet tempests of many kinds;

Some are outside while others linger and rage in my mind.

One of the battles that wrestles inside of me

Is finding my home; where in life I am meant to be.

For I have moved and wandered from one place to another

And I stop for a while hoping I’ve found what I was searching for.

But in every place I stay, it is the same wherever I go;

I live this quiet life whether it be sunshine, rain, or snow.

For I fall into the same rut and habits of life

Hoping that somehow things will be different this time.

And there are wondrous moments where wider I open my eyes

To see that my loving God has in store a delightful surprise.

Such as following a new path beneath the warm sun

Or a sudden encounter with an old friend.

Climbing to the top of a mountain peak

And viewing a new, breathtaking scene.

Also hearing a new message from my Lord

While pausing to read and reflect on his word.

Although there are some hardships but that’s nothing new

For everyone who loves the Lord faces hard trials too.

And that is the time to believe and trust in God some more

Knowing that our faith in him will become even stronger.

And now through quiet prayer and thinking, God has revealed to me

My true home is whenever I am with him and can quietly be.

SIMPLY TRUST

014

Steadfast and sincere belief

In Almighty God and his Son Jesus.

Mindful and obedient to His true and holy word;

Personally accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Living each day in joyfulness and not sorrow;

Yesterday’s tears washed away by hope for tomorrow.

Tenderness and kindness shown to everyone I see;

Remembering God’s never ending love shown to me.

Unwavering faith in the goal of reaching heaven.

Serving gladly and sharing about Him.

Teachable soul continuing to depend on Jesus

by praying and  being led daily by his Holy Spirit.

THANKFUL HEART

021

Tender words of God soothing my soul;

Harmonious and sweet hymns soon follow.

Awake and stirring inside of me

Never ending source of lasting peace.

Kindest showers of blessings from Jesus;

Flowing and bubbling through the Holy Spirit.

Under the Lord’s loving and ever watchful eye

Lingering in the stillness with a contented sigh.

Hearing and cherishing the sweet words of him;

Ever mindful of God’s all-knowing wisdom.

After a long and struggling day,

Remembering Jesus is still leading the way.

Trusting and believing fully in him,

My heart is happy and thankful within.

Oh the Things My Fingers can do

118

Clapping hands to music and

Snapping my fingers to a catchy tune

Are just a few things that

My little fingers can do.

Dancing up and down a keyboard;

Playing a rhythmic song

Or typing on the computer

A new story or poem.

Holding a friend’s hand or

Helping someone in need.

Writing down my thoughts and

Not hurry; no need for speed.

While walking through a forest

 And crossing a grassy meadow,

Smelling and caressing the

Soft and dewy wildflower petals.

Gripping the steering wheel and

Driving from place to place;

Journeying through this day while

Living inside of God’s sweet grace.

Then when the starry night arrives

And the glowing sun has gone down,

Folding my fingers in quiet prayer to

Thank the Lord for all he has done.

One Day, One Hour and One Step at a Time

039

Lord, sometimes I awake and don’t know

The road to take or what path to follow.

So, I’ll pause and pray in the eerie morning light

Asking you to help me just

to take one day, one, hour, one step at a time.

Sometimes there are hard decisions to make

And so I hold my breath and hesitate

As I contemplate what to do; what is right?

And so I’m asking you to help me Lord just

To take one day, one hour, and one step at a time.

And then as this long day is steadily passing

With a few hurdles appearing on the horizon,

I stop to strain and see the end in sight

Lord please keep on helping me just

To take one day, one hour, and one step at a time.

Lord, my work and my daily tasks are done

So now I am quietly journeying back home.

While I travel in the faint evening twilight,

Please guide the way and help me just

To take one day, one hour, and one step at a time.

Lord, now that I am silently lying in a shroud of darkness,

Your gentle presence keeps my mind at peace and rest.

And even as I sleep wrapped in the blanket of night

Lord, still gently help me to take just

One day, one hour, and one step at a time.
