PRESSING FORWARD

Pray in the morning and in the quiet interludes of the day;

Release to God all your cares and your worries along the way.

Enter and remain in God’s holy presence

Surrounded by his unchanging love and

Saturated with his all amazing grace.

Internal struggles that only he understands,

Now alleviated by his unseen yet compassionate hand.

Goodness and mercies, he has kept in store

Filter softly down in a warm sunlit shower.

Open heart and open mind to hear his word

Remembering he is God: Jesus is Savior and Lord

Who abides in you and promises to forever stay.

Advance and step now into the unknown future of this day

Remembering and trusting in him as you go;

Doubting never that God is everlastingly faithful.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (Holy Bible English Standard Version):

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean

on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge

him and he will make straight your paths.”

Becky’s Haiku: Magic and Hope

New day dawns; morning

bright sun. Like magic, hope stirs

to waken the soul.

ABC Poem: Winter

Arctic blast of frigid air

Blustery winds; days no longer warm and fair.

Carpet of white blankets the ground;

Descending showers of flakes cascading down.

Elegant snow-laced branches sprout from the bare trees;

Forest now stripped of its lavish autumnal canopy

Grass once green as an emerald jewel

Hidden and withered by winter’s abrupt arrival.

Icicles droop, lengthen and stretch

Jutting downward from the roof’s shingled ledge.

Kelly green leaves no longer seen; absent also

Lemon-tinted foliage with hues of maroon, and burnt amber gold.

Moon, bright and full, keeps watch over the barren land;

Night time sky filled with glistening stars vibrant and grand.

Overlooking the strangely quiet cluster of leafless trees,

Pines tower proudly upward, resolute as ever.

Quiver, they may in the wintry wind’s brutal wake

Resisting the icy claws of the lashing breeze;

Still yet clinging to their needles of jaded green.

Tinted vaulting canvas of heavenly blue basks

Underneath the cold sunlight’s downward view.

Virgin, untouched snowdrifts like perfectly shaped sculptures;

White-capped fields covered with unblemished designs in nature.

Exhilaration and delight capture the

Young at heart and old alike with

Zeal and wonder of winter’s pristine presence

amidst the frigid arctic season.

Becky’s Haiku: Nightmare and Horror

Nightmare of a deep

freeze: we’ve been forewarned! To my

horror, it had come.

Sixteen below but

that isn’t all; the wind chill

makes it colder still.

The Quiet Gift

The commotion of the day

gently ebbs away

into the twilight eve and

descending darkness.

No more worries or

dilemmas to solve.

No more demands to meet

or deadlines to defeat.

No more explanations of why

or expectations you tried so

hard to satisfy.

Just a sweet time to

be with the Lord;

remembering his gentle word

to be still and quietly rest.

A time of thoughtful reflection

Of that day’s direction.

A time to overcome disappointment,

pain, and tears of sorrow

with renewed hope for tomorrow.

By sleeping beneath the Lord’s

silent yet comforting hand

until the sun rises again;

the gift of peace and quietness.

Freku: CHRISTMASTIME

Christians near and far

Herald the birth of our Lord;

Remembering the singing angels,

Immanuel laying in a manger;

Starry, most holy night.

Traveling wise men also came

Many miles beneath the guiding star

Across the desert mountains and the plains;

Seeing at last this most holy sight.

Tending shepherds watched

In reverent wonder and awe,

Mary and Joseph quieting kneeling;

Eternal king and savior peacefully sleeping

 while bringing us his goodness and light.

Remembering the

Savior’s birth who brought us hope

and peace here on earth.

Merry Christmas to all!!

Friday Verse Journal: Colossians 3:15

Thankful for….

Thankful for a glorious new day;

Thankful for the sun and the rain.

Thankful for the blue sky and the clouds;

Also, when the sun rises and gently goes down.

Thankful for the mountains, the meadows,

And the hills covered with emerald jeweled forests.

Also for the rippling lakes and rumbling oceans where

In the grain-sifting sand, my feet can sink and rest.

Thankful for the twittering birds of the air

and for butterflies fluttering here and there.

Thankful for close friends and family;

Thankful for the holidays when we meet

And the lifetime of cherished memories.

Thankful for their encouragement and their words

And the sweet moments locked forever in my heart.

Thankful for God, our Heavenly Father

Who reigns above forever and ever

And who so did love man

That he authored a lasting plan

To save us from our sins and from

Our many worldly and selfish whims.

Thankful for how God gives life purpose

For each new day with his mission; his focus.

Thankful for Jesus, His Son, and my Savior

And the hope he gives for an eternal future.

Thankful for the Lord who is always listening

And generously showers us with his blessings.

Thankful for the night when I can rest and sleep

Knowing Jesus is lovingly watching over me.

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed

you were called… And be thankful.”

Colossians 3:15 (Holy Bible ESV)

Ascend

Last night, I let my heart and mind

Sink low into futile depths

of hopeless misery

as the streaming sun

 dipped down

Below the far-off horizon;

under the darkened forest

Of resin-scented trees.

But today, I awoke and did rise

To watch that ancient orb of light

Climb steadily upward

filling the sapphire sky

over the same forest now

Richly crowned in brilliant jewels:

Golden, amber, and hints of

Ruby red autumn leaves.

So, with a prayer to the Lord,

Creator of heaven and earth,

And hope I heard from

 his everlasting word,

I let my mind and heart

ascend

to the awesome

heights and wonders of

God’s never-ending kingdom:

Filled with His

Glory, splendor, and majesty.

Becky’s Haiku: Sweet and Scent

Autumn leaves fall: red,

Orange, and lemon-yellow tint

Emitting sweet scent.

Wind Whispering to Me

Wind whispering to me

Beneath the sun’s downward gaze

While gently whistling through the trees;

Dispelling a soft yet cool breeze

Amidst a quiet autumn day,

Flowing over the lapping waves.

Wind whispering to me,

Wind whispering to me

Beneath the sun’s downward gaze.
